Well, things did not go as planned yesterday and that's why I didn't bother coming back on here to update you. Overall, the home inspection went pretty well, but there is one potentially major issue that needs to be assessed further. The basement. Oooooohhhhh, the basement, the area of the house that seems to have been haunting us the entire time we've been searching for a house (for almost 2 years now!). The home inspector noticed some foundation settling in the garage and also some sloping inward in the house. So, he recommended that we hire a structural engineer to come out and assess it further. Apparently the structural engineer will be able to determine if the house is still moving and if it is, when it might stop moving. Or should be able to tell us when the movement occurred. So, that sort of puts a damper on things for us. We're still very much in love with the house, but if it ends up having significant foundation issues we will not be moving forward with purchasing it. That would be VERY disappointing.
So, I've been very blah all day today. I'm just really tired of trying to find a house and beyond that, trying to make everything work together on a specific timeline. It's exhausting! Unfortunately, I've been eating my feelings a bit today, but I'm hoping I have that under control now. I won't be eating anything else tonight unless my tummy tells me to feed it. And if it does, I'll be eating an apple with peanut butter!
